UGBS NEST Partners with TotalEnergies to Train 4 Young Entrepreneurs Under the Startupper Project

The University of Ghana Business School Innovation and Incubation Hub recently hosted a week-long coaching session for the winners of the 4th edition of the StartUpper of the Year competition, organized by TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana. The competition, which was held in 32 African countries, including Ghana, aims to identify, reward, and promote outstanding business creation projects or developments of innovative companies that have been in existence for less than three years.

Hybrid Training Session Ongoing

The hybrid session, which took place from March 24, 2025, to March 28, 2025, was designed to equip the winners with business knowledge and skills through the teaching of various business-related topics. Industry experts delivered insightful lectures on topics such as investor pitching and networking, management, leadership, and ethical management. The session commenced with a lecture by Mr. Jackson N. Appiagyei, who introduced the awardees to designing competitive models, building solid strategic plans, and creating powerful market plans.

Throughout the session, other experts shared their knowledge and expertise. Miss Sylvia Nyarko dealt with matters relating to management, leadership, and ethical management, while Dr. Priscilla N. Otuo spoke extensively on investor pitching and networking, including creating compelling pitches, building strong relationships with investors, and conducting effective market research. Additionally, Mr. Oliver K. Aggrey and Mr. Jackson Appiagyei took the learners through self-branding and smart selling, and effective customer service, respectively.

The session concluded with an in-person lecture on e-commerce and entrepreneurship, facilitated by Dr. Priscilla N. Otuo, and basic bookkeeping, facilitated by Mr. Albert Owusu. The coaching session provided the winners with valuable insights and practical skills to help them grow their businesses.
